In January-October 2015, the Bilitis Foundation conducted qualitative research supported by ILGA-Europe – a European association of organisations working for the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex people with over 400 members from European countries – which answered the question of how well secondary schools in Sofia, Bulgaria, provide an inclusive environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex students and teachers. The research included a survey of internal policies protecting against discrimination and violence/bullying; interviews with 20 students and teachers who self-identified as gay, bisexual or transgender; and a survey of school principals. The survey results are summarised in the report Schools for All?
