About

The project aimed to raise awareness among LGBTI activists and institutions dealing with human rights, justice, social, educational, and health policies about the existing legal and social problems of LGBTI families. Thus laying the foundation for a future strategy to advocate for the identified needs of LGBTI families and eliminate discrimination against them.

Objectives

The main objective was to raise awareness of two target groups: 1) the LGBTI community and allies (NGOs supporting LGBTI equality) and 2) public institutions: the institutions dealing with discrimination (Commission for Protection against Discrimination – CPD, Ministry of Justice, Ombudsman) and some ministries; policy development in social, educational and health spheres.

Main Activities:

  • In 2016, Bilitis conducted qualitative research, examining the way and quality of life of LGBTI families, residing in Bulgaria.
  • In early 2017, it published a report in the form of a book, which is also available online here
