12 months - (September 2023 - August 2024)

Financed by:
EUROPEAN COMMISSION: Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme (CERV)

About the project:

Prompted by the deteriorating social climate for the rights of LGBTI people in Bulgaria, we launched the Rainbow Network project. Our goal is to build a national network of activists who will support the rights of LGBTI people and their advocates.

We are planning to hold two Leadership Academies, which will offer structured educational content to enhance the skills and competencies of activists from several Bulgarian cities outside the capital. In this way, we will encourage advocacy and community-building, provide new opportunities for the development of activists across the country, and improve the resilience and collaboration of LGBTI communities within civil society.

We expect to increase the capacity for community monitoring and mobilization among LGBTI rights defenders at the local level, as well as to encourage more people to find the courage to report hate crimes against the LGBTI community throughout the country.

Rainbow Network aligns with the strategic goal of the Bilitis and Glas foundations to build and activate strong local communities across the country. If you share this goal and want full recognition, equality, and justice for LGBTI people everywhere in Bulgaria, join us or contact us for more information

Project objectives and activities:

A training Leadership Academy for LGBTI activists is scheduled to take place in November 2024. We will soon publish additional information and a registration form.

If you are an activist outside of Sofia and would like to join our network regardless of where you live, you can contact us right now at:
