Coordinated by GLAS Foundation, the project brings together key national partners: Bilitis Resource Center Foundation (Bilitis), Association of European Journalists \u2013 Bulgaria (AEJ-Bulgaria) and Bulgarian Society for Psychoanalysis and Group Analysis (BOPGA)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Running from June 1, 2025 to May 31, 2027, RESPONSES aims to counter the growing problem of hate speech and disinformation targeting LGBTIQ+ people in Bulgaria by building new tools, networks, and knowledge to confront it effectively.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Planned activities include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>In-depth research and mapping<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of hate speech narratives and disinformation trends, as well as community perceptions of hate speech.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>A large-scale national awareness campaign<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including outdoor and online visibility, and the development of a new digital guide <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Browsing Through Hate<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, offering practical guidance on how to respond to and navigate online hostility.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Investigative journalism work<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including fact-checking major cases and publishing original reports on disinformation and hate speech related to LGBTIQ+ people.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Specialized media trainings<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to build the capacity of journalists and editors on inclusive and ethical reporting.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Community resilience programming<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, such as digital safety workshops, mental health support, and sessions on managing online attacks.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Evaluation and knowledge-sharing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to ensure that the project\u2019s outcomes have a lasting impact.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In numbers, we will:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Train 20 journalists on reporting LGBTIQ+ hate speech;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Conduct 4 investigative journalistic reports;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Launch fact-checks on at least 6 prominent hate speech cases;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Train 200 LGBTIQ+ people on digital resilience and wellbeing;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provide mental health support to at least 70 individuals;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reach 20,000 community members with resources;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Launch a national awareness campaign reaching over 200,000 people.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through this collaborative and multidisciplinary approach, RESPONSES will strengthen the LGBTIQ+ community\u2019s responses to hate speech, improve media practices, and equip allies with better tools to counter online hate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stay tuned for updates and ways to get involved.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\ud83c\uddea\ud83c\uddfa Funded by the European Union.
