On October 20, the Women’s Football Tournament was held on the football field at the Sports Complex “Mir i Druzhba” in Sofia, which brought together nearly 40 women, some of them professionally engaged, others – just football lovers. The tournament became a fact thanks to the support from FARE Network as part of the largest campaign for social change and diversity in global football – #FootballPeople.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2633″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” css=”.vc_custom_1571827674468{padding-top: 50px !important;padding-bottom: 50px !important;}”][vc_column_text]The tournament began at 2 pm and officially ended at 18. It was held on small doors with teams of 5 + 1. Each team was made out of 6 people, some had custom made T-shirts, team uniforms and even a banner of their team!

The girls were there earlier and were already warming up. From the first referee’s signal it became clear that the whole game would be high-level and the audience would not be disappointed with the show.

The officially participating teams were 6, divided into two groups of 3 teams, but the actual participants in the tournament were much more, as there were many reserve players in one team. We can safely state that everyone who wanted to play took part in the tournament. The game scheme was a point system with duels within one group and the winners were determined by a small final and a final.

The tournament ended with a victory for the team of the Amateurs, followed by Uncensored ladies 1914 and Athletic. Monika Pisankaneva, founder of Billitis, handed out gold, silver and bronze medals with the Billitis logo as well as the logo of the #FootballPeople campaign sponsored by Fare Network to the participants in the three qualifying teams.

Additional individual prizes were also awarded for the best goalkeeper, the best striker, the best scorer and the most attractive player. There were also prizes for all participants from our friends from TwoFingers, as well as branded cupcakes from Take a Cake with the two logos of the organizations behind the tournament.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2634″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” css=”.vc_custom_1571827787167{padding-top: 50px !important;padding-bottom: 50px !important;}”][vc_column_text]It was a pleasure for us, the organizers from Billitis, to provide this opportunity for sports, for making a statement and for creating a community for all women participating in our event![/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”pink” border_width=”5″ el_width=”80″ css=”.vc_custom_1571828021303{padding-top: 50px !important;padding-bottom: 50px !important;}”][vc_single_image image=”2639″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” css=”.vc_custom_1571858039478{padding-bottom: 50px !important;}”][vc_column_text]The #FootballPeople weeks is the largest campaign for social change and diversity in global football.
